Is anyone else nearing the brink of kitchen overload with all of the cookie baking & holiday meal prep or is it just me? I feel like I have spent the last 3…maybe 4 months in the kitchen and have created a total of 9,000 cookies and other desserts (this may be a slight exaggeration) like these Pumpkin Cake Bars and these Oatmeal Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars.

 

Don’t get me wrong, I love the time that I get to spend creating in the kitchen especially this time of year but it never hurts to simplify things here and there – am I right? Fortunately, sometimes all it takes to do that is to pull one of my one-pan dinner recipes from my arsenal and that is where this Skillet Chicken with Garlic Cream Sauce comes in.

It’s always been a life saver to create a few of these babies to have on hand because they are designed to minimize your kitchen time and the best part about them is: It takes only ONE pan! And the other best part is that it’s a very yummy and easy chicken breast recipe that takes only 9 ingredients that you probably already have on hand!

For this particular one pan chicken breast recipe, I used my cast iron skillet so that I could easily transfer the dish from searing to baking in one easy step.  If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, you can always use another type of oven-safe skillet to get the job done.

Serve your Skillet Chicken with some tasty veggies or pasta drizzled in the garlic cream sauce and voila! A delicious meal at your fingertips with little mess in the aftermath!

Skillet Chicken with Garlic Cream Sauce – A one pan chicken breast recipe creating juicy, tender seasoned chicken breasts seared, then baked to perfection and topped with a thin Garlic Cream Sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 Chicken Breasts
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • ¾ tsp Paprika
  • 2 TBS Butter
  • 3 Cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 C Low Sodium Chicken Broth
  • ¼ tsp Oregano
  • ½ tsp Parsley
  • ¼ C Heavy Cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a small dish, mix together the Black Pepper, Garlic Powder and Paprika. Sprinkle your desired amount of mixture over both sides of the chicken. (I had some leftover but I used about 1 teaspoon per chicken breast.)
  3. In your oven-safe skillet, melt the butter on medium-low heat on the stove top. Once the butter is melted, add the seasoned chicken breasts to the pan and cook each side for about 5 minutes per side.
  4. Once both sides of the chicken breasts have been seared, remove the chicken breasts from the pan to set on a plate and return the skillet to medium low heat.
  5. In the heated skillet, sauté minced garlic in the chicken juices until fragrant (about 1-2 minutes) while scraping to loosen the chicken crumbs/drippings. Add the Chicken Broth, Oregano and Parsley to the pan and simmer on medium low heat for about 4 minutes then stir the Heavy Cream into the mixture for 2 minutes.
  6. Return the chicken in the skillet over the sauce and bake the chicken in the sauce for 25-35 minutes.
  7. Serve with veggies or your choice of side and enjoy!
